Buying a beer system
How to compare commercial beer system installation quotes
Compare beer-system quotes on complete scope, commissioning and venue requirements so you can choose the right installation for your business.

Compare the finished result, not just the equipment list
Two beer-system quotes can look similar and still buy very different outcomes. One may cover the complete installation from keg room to tap. Another may depend on electrical, refrigeration or building work being arranged separately. Before comparing totals, ask each contractor to price the same operating brief. That gives you a useful comparison and a clearer picture of what remains to be organised.
Give every contractor the same venue brief
Set out your location, opening or upgrade date, bar layout, product range and expected trading pattern. Include the proposed tap count and any future expansion. Plans help, but explain how the venue will actually operate: a function bar used occasionally has a different brief from the main bar during a busy service. Ask what site information is still needed before the price can be confirmed.
Make the boundaries of the quote clear
Ask who supplies and installs the fonts, product lines, gas equipment, glycol cooling and associated connections. Confirm who handles access, penetrations, refrigeration, electrical work and making good. Existing equipment needs particular attention. If a quote assumes the current chiller or python can be reused, ask how that suitability will be assessed. An assumption should be resolved before it becomes a variation during construction.
Look beyond installation day
Ask what commissioning includes and how the system will be checked at each service point. Confirm what your team receives at handover, who explains normal operation and who you contact afterwards. Cleaning and mechanical servicing should be discussed as separate requirements. You are choosing a system your team will operate every week, so access for future maintenance belongs in the purchasing decision too.
Compare exclusions alongside the total
Put the quotes side by side and list the included work, excluded work, equipment assumptions, timing and handover. Ask for unclear items to be explained in writing. A higher figure may include work that another contractor has left to you; a lower figure may be entirely appropriate for a simpler scope. The point is to understand the complete job before deciding.
