Bar equipment
Commercial beer tap and font maintenance
The routine care that protects presentation, hygiene and consistent pouring at the bar.

The tap is a working component
The tap is repeatedly operated, exposed to product residue and cleaned by different staff. Seals, levers, nozzles and internal surfaces wear over time.
A tap can appear acceptable externally while internal wear causes drips, sticking, turbulence or hygiene problems.
Clean removable contact parts correctly
Follow the approved cleaning process for the installed tap and product. Remove and clean appropriate components at the required interval, then rinse and refit them correctly.
Do not use tools or chemicals that damage plated finishes, seals or internal surfaces. Replacement parts must match the tap model.
Watch for early wear
Drips after closure, stiff operation, loose handles, damaged nozzles and inconsistent flow are clear maintenance signals. Record which tap is affected rather than relying on a verbal report such as bar tap leaking.
Early seal replacement is inexpensive. Delay increases product loss and can damage surrounding joinery or flooring.
Protect the font and cooling path
Fonts must remain secure, clean and properly cooled. Condensation changes, warm towers or wet bar surfaces can indicate insulation or cooling problems below the visible equipment.
Inspect service penetrations and accessible connections. Water should not be allowed to track into cabinets or electrical areas.
Standardise spare parts
Maintain an asset list showing tap makes and models. This allows the venue or service provider to carry the correct seal kits and wear components.
Mixed, undocumented hardware increases repair time and encourages temporary substitutions that may not perform correctly.
Include taps in the maintenance program
Tap condition should be reviewed during cleaning and planned service visits. Repeated failure of one component may indicate pressure, cleaning or handling problems rather than random wear.
A consistent bar-equipment standard improves product presentation and makes staff training easier across multiple venues.
