How cool-room performance affects draught beer
Why refrigeration condition, stock practices and room design directly influence pour quality.

The keg room establishes the starting temperature
The beer system can maintain product temperature more effectively when kegs are already stable at the intended condition. Warm deliveries or uneven room temperature increase cooling demand through the entire system.
Measure product and room conditions rather than relying only on the wall controller. Air temperature changes faster than a full keg.
Airflow determines temperature uniformity
Evaporator air must circulate around stored kegs. Stacking product against the coil or filling the discharge path creates warm zones.
Use shelving and floor markings to keep airflow routes clear. Check temperatures in different parts of the room during a busy trading period.
Door control matters
Frequent or prolonged opening introduces warm, humid air. Damaged seals, misaligned doors and failed closers create a continuous heat load.
Repair door defects and organise stock so staff can complete keg changes quickly. Operational discipline reduces plant run time.
Refrigeration condition affects recovery
Dirty condensers, iced evaporators, failed fans and refrigerant faults reduce capacity. The room may recover overnight but fail after deliveries or repeated access.
A load-related temperature problem is still a refrigeration problem if the system was designed for that legitimate load.
Coordinate cool room and glycol diagnosis
Warm beer can result from the keg room, python cooling or both. Check temperatures along the full path before deciding which equipment to repair.

Use trend data
A simple temperature logger can show recovery after deliveries, door-opening patterns and overnight performance. Trend data is more useful than a single reading taken after the venue has closed.
Use the evidence to separate equipment capacity, door behaviour and stock-loading issues, then address the actual constraint.
