Why commercial draught beer pours warm
A system-based approach to diagnosing warm beer from keg room to tap.

Temperature must be controlled end to end
Cold kegs do not guarantee cold beer at the tap. Product gains heat as it travels through lines, rises vertically, passes through warm voids or sits in an uncooled section near the font. The full product path must remain within the intended operating range.
Diagnosis starts by measuring actual temperatures at several points rather than relying on a single controller display. The displayed value may represent the reservoir or room air, not the product at the customer end.
Check whether the fault is constant or load related
Constant warm product suggests a persistent refrigeration, circulation, insulation or setpoint problem. A fault that appears only during peak demand points more strongly to insufficient capacity, heat rejection or recovery.
Record the time of day, affected taps, product turnover and whether doors or access panels were open. This operating context prevents a technician testing a quiet venue and finding no obvious fault.
Common refrigeration and glycol causes
Dirty condensers, blocked airflow, failing fans, low refrigerant charge, weak pumps, air locks and low glycol level can all reduce cooling. Damaged insulation allows heat to enter the circuit continuously.
The correct repair depends on measured performance. Replacing a pump will not solve insufficient refrigeration duty, and adding refrigerant without confirming a leak is not a proper diagnosis.
Keg room conditions still matter
A keg room that is overloaded, frequently opened or used to cool warm deliveries may not recover quickly enough. Stock packed against evaporators can restrict airflow and create uneven temperatures.
Review delivery timing and loading practices as well as equipment condition. Operational heat load can expose a system that was only marginally sized when installed.
Do not chase temperature with pressure
Increasing gas pressure may make beer move faster, but it does not remove heat. It can also drive excessive carbonation, foam and inconsistent pouring.
Restore temperature control first, then verify system balance. Temperature, pressure and line resistance must work together; changing one variable to hide another usually increases wastage.
